Six Things That Shape Our Practice
Deep Legal Expertise
Over fourteen years of family law work in Malaysia, with direct court experience across the Kuala Lumpur jurisdiction.
Listening First
Every matter begins with a proper conversation. We understand the situation before we suggest any path forward.
Transparent Fees
Pricing is stated clearly from the outset. No estimates that expand without warning — every change is discussed first.
Child-Centred Approach
In every custody and access matter, the welfare of children remains the primary consideration throughout our work.
Mediation Over Conflict
We actively look for negotiated resolutions that spare families from prolonged court proceedings wherever possible.
Full Confidentiality
Everything shared is protected by legal professional privilege. Discretion is not optional at Sahaja Counsel — it is foundational.
Expertise
Malaysian Family Law, Practised Closely
Family law in Malaysia involves multiple legal frameworks depending on the religion and civil status of the parties involved. Navigating these correctly requires more than general legal training — it requires specific, current knowledge of how courts in Kuala Lumpur approach these matters in practice.
Our team has worked on matters ranging from uncontested divorces to complex custody disputes, and carries that experience directly into each new client's situation.
Direct experience with KL family courts and filing processes
Knowledge of both civil and Syariah-adjacent family law landscapes
Familiarity with child welfare assessment standards used by Malaysian courts
Ongoing professional development through the Malaysian Bar
Written consultation summaries so you are never uncertain about what was discussed
Regular progress updates throughout active matters — not just when something significant happens
Same team members throughout — no file handoffs that leave you re-explaining your situation
Accessible office in Jalan Pinang, central Kuala Lumpur
Client Service
Support That Feels Personal
Legal matters can last weeks or months. The quality of ongoing communication matters as much as the quality of the legal work itself. At Sahaja Counsel, the person who meets you at the first conversation is the same person guiding your matter throughout.
We do not operate as a case-processing firm. We keep our client load manageable so that each family receives the attention they deserve.
Value & Pricing
Fees Stated Before Work Begins
One of the most common sources of stress in legal matters is uncertainty about cost. We address this directly by providing clear, written fee outlines before any substantive work begins. The prices for our three core services are published openly, so families can plan without anxiety.
Starting from RM 310 for a full consultation, through to RM 1,090 for comprehensive end-to-end support — the scope of each service is explained alongside the fee.
Fixed-scope fees with no hidden additions
Written fee agreement before any chargeable work
Any scope changes discussed and agreed before proceeding
Services available as standalone steps — no obligation to commit beyond what you need

What Sets Us Apart
Features You Will Not Find Everywhere
The First Conversation Panel
Before any formal engagement, we offer a structured initial session that sets expectations, explains the legal landscape, and delivers a written summary. It is designed so you leave better informed regardless of what you decide next.
Private Reassurance Protocol
For clients who are concerned about confidentiality — particularly those in sensitive situations — we follow a named internal protocol that covers how documents are stored, how communications are handled, and what happens if a matter becomes contested.
Single-Team Continuity
We deliberately keep our practice small. That means no handoffs, no explaining your situation from scratch to a new associate, and no loss of context as your matter progresses. The team you meet is the team that handles your matter from beginning to end.
Modular Service Design
Our three services are structured as distinct steps so that you can begin with a consultation and decide later whether to engage further — or move directly to the level of support that matches your circumstances. No all-or-nothing commitment required.
